Grants in Action: BMS Dancing Classrooms
October 24 @ 1:45 pm - 3:00 pm
Now in its 10th year, Brady Middle School’s Dancing Classrooms teaches eighth graders more than a few dance steps; in only 19 lessons taught during physical education classes, students have gained an appreciation and respect for each other and the world community. The program was first brought to the Orange City School District following a District-wide Professional Development Day focused on brain development. Middle school teachers were intrigued by the research that found links between formal dancing, physical activity, novelty, and brain growth. Socially students gain an appreciation for various cultures and music and learn to respect their fellow “ladies” and “gentlemen.”
Orange School’s Foundation is proud to have been able to underwrite the grant that brought Dancing Classrooms to the district! Congratulations Brady for keeping this great program alive.
